The Human Resources Services (HRS) of the University is responsible for recruitment and selection, employment relations, staff benefits, and training and development of academic and administrative members of staff. The HRS also deals with matters relating to the employment of research staff and students. Through the appropriate selection, motivation, evaluation and development of human capital, the HRS aims to create a constructive collaboration culture that has its people in the center of it.

 

SERVICES OFFERED

Recruitment and Selection Office

The objective of the Recruitment and Selection Office is to ensure legally adherent and meritocratic procedures for the evaluation and selection of candidates, and their smooth integration in the workplace. The main tasks of this Office concern the following:

  • Workforce planning and organizational structure
  • Preparation of Job Descriptions/Service Plans, and job advertisements
  • Implementation and coordination of recruitment, selection and induction process
  • Preparation of contracts where required
  • Implementation of permanency process for administrative members of staff
  • Maintaining and updating the personal files of members of staff
  • Conduct the separation procedure and exit interviews
  • Issuance of employment certificates

Training and Development Office

The Open University of Cyprus invests in its human resources, emphasizing the provision of incentives through training and development. The Training and Development Office strives to achieve systematic continuous development and enrichment of competencies and skills of the University's human resources.

The main objectives of the Office concern the following:

  • Training and development needs identification
  • Annual training plan preparation and implementation
  • Organization of customized in-house training programs
  • Supports and guidance for members of staff regarding training
  • Performance management activities, and support to assessors to ensure a smooth and meritocratic evaluation procedure, contributing to an increased effectiveness.

Benefits and Employment Relations Office

The Benefits and Employment Relations Office is responsible to manage the benefits of academic, administrative and other members of staff at the Open University of Cyprus, while at the same time managing matters pertaining to employment relations.

This Office acts in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Circulars and mandates of the relevant governing Bodies concerning benefits, and ensures, among others, compliance with the following:

  • Sabbatical leave
  • Overtime allowances
  • Leave of absence and unpaid leaves
  • Attendance system maintenance and monitoring of leave registry
  • Promotions

In addition, the Office takes care of employment relations matters with proposing and implementing new actions to improve the work environment and offer incentives to members of staff.

Examination Centre

The successful assessment, selection and recruitment process of employees is vital for the future success of any Organization. Hence, the Open University Cyprus (OUC), launched an Examination Center in October 2022, to facilitate organizations to assess and evaluate their candidates. The OUC Examination Center capitalizes on its expertise as a university, providing the ideal solutions for the evaluation and selection of candidates, by using scientifically proven assessment methods and tools. The assessment methods are agreed with each Organization according to the position requirements and the needs of each Organization, and may include aptitude tests, exams customized based on the duties of the position, structured interviews and more.
