Through the course of history, starting from the first considered text of medical ethics, the Hippocratic Oath, but mainly through texts (both binding and non-binding) drafted during the second half of the 20th century, such as Nuremberg Code, Declaration of Geneva, as well as more recent texts, such as Oviedo Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine and UNESCO Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, students will come into contact with the birth and evolution of Bioethics and Biolaw. Classical patient rights, medical deontology, but also contemporary issues related to e-health occupy a central place in the curriculum. Special emphasis will be given to medical fault (medical negligence) through the study of Cypriot and English case law. Part of the curriculum will be dedicated to medically assisted human reproduction law, human organ transplantation law and legislation on standards of quality and safety of human tissues and cells.
