The coronavirus pandemic becoming a focal point of this year’s World Bioethics Day

Why Bioethics? Why Medical Ethics?

 

This year's World Bioethics Day conference organized by the Greek and the Cyprus Unit of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa), to be held online on October 19, 2020 in collaboration with universities and research centers, will focus on critical issues of bioethics and medical ethics amidst the covid-19 pandemic.  

Renowned scientists from various fields, from Greece, Cyprus and abroad, will address the web conference and analyse from their particular viewpoint the bioethical issues arising from the pandemic of the new covid-19 coronavirus and how States and healthcare providers respond to the crisis.

The Conference will convene online through the eLearning tools of the Open University of Cyprus via this weblink https://bit.ly/34Wg4dB and will start at 18:00 (GMT+03:00).

The World Bioethics Day 2020 conference is co-organized by the Greek Unit of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa), the Applied Philosophy Research Lab of NKUA, the Open University of Cyprus and more specifically the MA in “Bioethics – Medical Ethics” offered as of the current 2020-2021 academic year, the Cyprus Unit of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Haifa), the Cyprus University of Technology, the Research Center of Biopolitics and the European Center for Research & Education in Bioethics and Law of the Panteion University. The Administrative Region of Attica and the 1st Department of Psychiatry of Eginition Hospital (NKUA) are supporting the event in the context of the programme “Promotion of Mental Health in Vulnerable Populations”. The conference is sponsored by Alpro.
