The aim of the Master’s programme in “Accounting and Finance” is to contribute to the graduation of executives that possess a modern and comprehensive knowledge on Finance and Accounting, as well as the appropriate expertise by linking theory to practice.
Graduates of the Programme are expected to acquire the knowledge required to analyse and address the challenges posed by a financial environment that is constantly evolving. With such knowledge, graduates will be able to take appropriate financial decisions based on theoretical principles, as well as on empirical evidence.
The Programme gives a comprehensive view on the environment in which financial institutions operate, analysing the functions, properties and the importance of the financial system. In particular, it provides a balanced mix between theory and modern applications based on two pillars:
- Finance, covering, inter alia, Portfolio Management, Corporate Finance, as well as more specialised topics in, Financial Risk Management, and the latest developments in financial technology.
- Accounting, providing the bases that allow graduates to prepare accounting reports and to interpret the accounting information required by banks, firms and other financial institutions in order to take appropriate and rational decisions. In addition to a general introduction to Accounting, the areas of Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting and Management Accounting are also covered.

The Master’s programme in “Accounting and Finance” applies to graduates of Higher Education Institutions, regardless of their field, who wish to gain theoretical and practical knowledge on Accounting and Finance, provided that they have completed the undergraduate studies in a recognised HEI. Additionally, executives of financial institutions, public officials, accountants, economists, bankers, as well as executives of private companies who wish to acquire additional specialization in Finance and Accounting can also apply.
This programme offers a comprehensive and multidimensional body of knowledge in the individual fields that compose it, and the skills it provides are required and utilised by banks, insurance companies, central banks, the stock market, accounting firms, private companies, consultancies, as well as the public sector.

Candidates for the Postgraduate Programme in “Accounting and Finance” must:
- Have a Degree from an accredited Higher Education Institution (in any academic field)
Applicants expecting to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree by the time of their enrolment in the Open University of Cyprus, or pending issue of their Degree, are still entitled to apply for admission.
- Have a very good command of the English language since in all courses a wide range of literature (such as academic articles and books) is in English.
- Possess adequate computer literacy (esp. Microsoft Office, email, Internet) to navigate educational material unhindered.
The tuition fees for the completion of the Master programme in "Accounting and Finance" amount to €5,400.
As far as discounts and scholarships are concerned, the OUC related policy is in effect.
To obtain this postgraduate degree students are required to complete successfully the programme and the examinations on the 7 (seven) Modules (credited with 10 ECTS each), and also to develop an Applied Research Project (credited with 20 ECTS).
Students are required to prepare two written assignments in each Module under the supervision and guidance of a tutor, and if they gain the necessary grades, they will become eligible to participate in the final exams.

Each student can optionally enrol, once or twice, in the free of charge Thematic Module "Industry Placement", which awards five (5) ECTS. The module offers a structured placement, designed to offer students specific industry and professional experience in their particular field of study, and to allow them to build their skills in a real-world setting.
