The purpose of this Thematic Unit is to explain, describe and understand the spectrum of cybercrime and digital deviance. The various ways in which cyberspace and the Internet (as digital platforms) conduce to crime will be analyzed. Various technologies and methods, which currently allow the concealment of criminal data, the misleading of victims, the extraction of information from victims, the posting of illegal material, and the smuggling of goods/information/services, will be examined. The Thematic Unit will also address the legal aspects that touch upon the jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute people who commit digital crime. At the same time, the Course will analyze ways in which the proper management of the Internet can contribute to the prevention and deterence of cybercrime actions, as well as explain the impact of the commission of cybercrime on its entirety.
