His Excellency Mr Oren Anolik, Ambassador of the State of Israel in Cyprus, along with the Head of Public Diplomacy of the Embassy, Ms Maria Hadjigeorgiou, visited the Open University of Cyprus to meet with the Rector, Professor Petros Pashiardis, on September 27, 2023.
The Rector of the Open University of Cyprus briefly presented the OUC Strategic Plan 2021-2024, the University’s specialization in open and distance education and the programmes of study offered in Greek and in English. Reference was made to existing collaboration with renowned Israeli Universities, and emphasis was given to student and staff exchanges with Israeli partners via the Erasmus+ International Mobility Programme, as well as to the niche OUC expertise areas, such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, educational leadership, Hellenic culture, etc.
The Israeli Ambassador had the opportunity to be informed of the OUC’s research and innovation activities and to discuss new ideas for collaboration in areas of common interest to further develop the relations with other Universities in the State of Israel.
