05 October: Hybrid Event - The role of Universities in promoting Cultural Heritage through the ‘eyes’ of the EU_CUL project

In what ways Universities can more effectively use the resources of European Cultural Heritage to promote their educational and social value? More specifically, in what ways the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) implements its mission of a socially engaged and responsible institution? In a multiplier event organized on October 5, 2021 in the framework of the EU-funded EU_CUL project entitled “Exploring European Cultural Heritage for fostering academic teaching and social responsibility in Higher Education”, OUC and its Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences present the University’s actions and reforms in promoting culture and cultural heritage, how Study Programmes engage with culture and promote links with the business world, and the University’s overall promotion of social contribution. The event will be hybrid, between 19.00 – 21.00 EEST, and will take place at the Semeli Hotel in Nicosia, while it will be simultaneously broadcasted live through the OUC YouTube Channel.

The programme of the event includes a brief overview of the EU_CUL Project, a presentation on “Culture & Informal Learning Spaces: The case of the Open University of Cyprus”, and a thorough presentation of the Study Programmes offered by OUC, which relate to culture, i.e. Studies in Hellenic Culture (undergraduate), Cultural Policy and Development, Digital Drama and Theatre in the Study of Ancient Greek Culture, PNYX: Political History, Theory and Practice, Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning, and Bioethics-Medical Ethics.
