“Higher Education Hauntologies: Living with Ghosts for a Justice-to-come” is the title of the new book co-edited by Michalinos Zembylas, Professor of Educational Theory and Curriculum Studies at the Open University of Cyprus, Dr. Vivienne Bozalek (University of Western Cape), Dr. Siddique Motala (University of Cape Town), and Dr. Dorothee Hölscher (Griffith University). The book considers how higher education might benefit from thinking about Derrida’s notion of hauntology and its implications for a justice-to-come. The authors call for the need to rethink the University across and within global geopolitical spaces, intent to provoke ideas to push boundaries that previously served well higher education teachers and scholars, and propose new imaginaries of higher education.
The opinions expressed in this collective volume, published by Routledge, contribute to the ongoing debates about the epistemological, ethical, ontological and political implications of hauntology in higher education policies and practices, mainly concerning the need for more socially just visions in higher education.
