The research project “Maritime Cognitive Decision Support System (MARI-Sense)”, funded by the RESTART 2016-2020 programme of the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, brings together partners from across the quadruple helix, universities and research centers, enterprises and the industry, and governmental bodies, aiming to support the sustainability of high activity levels of maritime and coastal tourism and the country’s maritime and shipping sectors. The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) participates in the project with its Computational Cognition Lab led by Associate Professor Loizos Michael.
In the context of the implementation of the project, the OUC accepts applications for up to three positions for Research Scientists, Research Assistants, and Developers for employment. The deadline to submit an online application is March 29, 2021.
The primary aim of the MARI-Sense project is the integration and adaptation of existing knowledge and applications in cognitive systems to develop the MARI-Sense Cognitive Decision Support System for Maritime Activities Planning, Emergency Response and Planning, and Maritime Spatial Planning. This cognitive system is being built to facilitate the smart management of the limited capabilities and resources of Cyprus via Maritime Spatial Planning, preserving on the one hand the natural environment and contributing to smart, sustainable and inclusive economic growth on the other.
