Erasmus+ International Mobility
Erasmus+ International Mobility supports students and staff mobility from European universities to third countries and vice versa for the following mobility actions:
- Student Mobility for studies (SMS)
- Student Mobility for Placements (SMP)
- Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments (STA)
- Staff Mobility for Training (STT)
International mobility aims to:
- Enhance the exchange of students, academic and administrative staff between European universities and universities in third countries,
- Further expand the opportunities and capacities of European universities for international cooperation at educational / research level,
- Exchange good practices in education and support networks of collaborations
- Students (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
- Academic Staff
- Administrative Staff
For the period 2017-2019, OUC has secured funding for staff mobility to and from partner universities in the following countries: Australia, Georgia, Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, Ukraine, South Africa, Palestine, Serbia (as of 2019 Serbia is not considered International Mobility), Tunisia and Russia.
The signing of an Erasmus+ Inter-institutional Agreement between the two HEIs (hone and host) is a prerequisite for the mobility of students and staff (academic and administrative) from and to partner countries, aiming to establish that both parties agree to fulfil the conditions set out in the Erasmus+ University Charter.
In the case of student mobility, HEIs participating in the Erasmus+ International Mobility must recognise the credits (ECTS or other) students have earned during their study period abroad.
Mobility duration:
Five (5) days to two (2) months. Due to the limited budget, beneficiaries can receive an Erasmus+ grant (daily allowance) only for five (5) eligible working days, excluding travel days.

When traveling to Cyprus, it is important to note that the official entry points are the airports of Larnaca (LCA) and Paphos (PFO), as well as the ports of Larnaca, Limassol, Latsi, and Paphos. Entry through any airport or port not under the control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, such as Ercan Airport in the Turkish-occupied areas of Nicosia, is illegal.
For more detailed information, please visit the Republic of Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (URL).
From Larnaca and Paphos airports, you can reach Nicosia – home of the Open University of Cyprus – by taxi, public transport (local and Intercity buses), or the Kapnos Airport Shuttle. Additional details about the Kapnos Airport Shuttle can be found on their official website.
Cyprus has a well-developed public transport network, facilitating travel within and between cities. Information on routes and timetables is available on the Cyprus Public Transport website (URL). Intercity buses connect all major cities (Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, as well as Ayia Napa), and their schedules and fares can also be accessed online.
For navigation, there are helpful apps available for both Android and iPhone.
The Open University of Cyprus is accessible by bus no. 3 from the city center (Solomou Square). Please note that public transport in Cyprus only accepts cash.
Car rental is another option for getting around the island, but remember that traffic in Cyprus drives on the left side of the road, as in the U.K.
