ΣΥΝΤΟΜΟ ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΜΑ / SHORT CV

Πριν από την ένταξή του στο Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου τον Ιούνιο του 2018, ο Δρ Duval-Hernández εργάστηκε στο Κέντρο Οικονομικών Ερευνών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου στο πλαίσιο του Προγράμματος «Employment in Europe (EUROEMP)», χρηματοδοτούμενο από το European Research Council, υπό την διεύθυνση του Καθ. Χριστόφορου Πισσαρίδη.

Διετέλεσε επίσης Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Οικονομικών στο CIDE (Μεξικό), Μεταδιδακτορικός Συνεργάτης στο Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies στο UCSD (ΗΠΑ) και Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Επιπλέον, υπήρξε σύμβουλος στην Παγκόσμια Τράπεζα και σε ερευνητικά έργα στην Inter-American Development Bank, στη μεξικανική κυβέρνηση και στο United

Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research, UNU-WIDER.

Είναι Research Fellow του IZA (Γερμανία) και External Affiliate στο CIDE (Μεξικό).

Η έρευνα του Δρος Duval-Hernández επικεντρώνεται στην αλληλεπίδραση ανάμεσα στην εισοδηματική κινητικότητα και την εξέλιξη της οικονομικής ανισότητας, τόσο από θεωρητική, όσο και από εμπειρική άποψη. Έχει επίσης μελετήσει την προσφορά εργασίας τόσο στις αναπτυσσόμενες, όσο και στις ανεπτυγμένες χώρες. Επί του παρόντος, μελετά την κατάτμηση στις ανεπίσημες αγορές εργασίας σε αναπτυσσόμενες χώρες με τη χρήση νέων δεδομένων και οικονομετρικών μεθόδων. Συγκεκριμένα, σε ένα έργο που χρηματοδοτείται από το Ίδρυμα Ford διεξάγει ένα μεγάλης κλίμακας Πείραμα Διακριτικής Επιλογής για να αποσαφηνίσει τις προτιμήσεις των άτυπων εργαζομένων για επίσημη απασχόληση και την αποτίμησή τους για συγκεκριμένα χαρακτηριστικά των επίσημων θέσεων εργασίας.

SHORT VITA

Previous to joining the Open University of Cyprus in June 2018, Dr. Duval Hernández worked at the Economics Research Centre at the University of Cyprus in the project “Employment in Europe (EUROEMP)”, funded by the European Research Council, under the direction of Professor Christopher Pissarides.

He has also been an Assistant Professor in Economics at CIDE, Mexico, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at UCSD, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Cyprus. In addition, Assistant Professor Duval Hernández has been a consultant at The World Bank, as well as for research projects at the Inter-American Development Bank, the Mexican Government, and for the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research, UNU-WIDER.

He currently is an IZA Research Fellow (Germany) and an External Affiliate at CIDE (Mexico).

The research of Dr. Duval Hernández centers on the interrelationship between income mobility and the evolution of economic inequality, both from a theoretical and an empirical point of view. He has also studied labor supply decisions both in developing and developed countries. He is currently studying segmentation in informal labor markets in developing countries using new data and econometric methods. In particular, in a project funded by the Ford Foundation he conducts a large-scale Discrete Choice Experiment to elucidate informal workers’  preferences for formal employment and their valuation for specific characteristics of formal jobs.
